Why have you decided to pursue a PhD?
I have had an exciting academic journey, with all of my previous degrees giving me insight into different fields. S PhD in business brings together all of these strands to better research and understand the corporate environment. I firmly believe that the pathway to a more just and equitable world has to include the Fortune 500 companies and the new start-ups. Too much of our daily lives are wound up in these organizations to fashion such an equitable world without their participation. A PhD will allow me to better research and answer the question of how to get these organizations to buy in and participate.
Why did you choose to get your PhD from the Daniels College of Business?
As an employee of the University of Denver, I have the opportunity to gain a quality education at a reasonable price via my employment benefits. I have also had the chance to research some of the faculty at Daniels, and there is some value alignment that I have seen that will allow me to learn from them and think with them.
What are your career goals or dream job after you complete your PhD?
Dreams change. But for now my goal is to use good research methodology to make sustainable organizational change in a manner that centers diversity, equity, inclusion and justice. Saying that out loud is becoming more of a luxury than it ought to. I would like to be at an organization that is ready to make this change, and have the skills and knowledge to make that happen.
