In this one-day workshop, participants will learn to:

LEARN TO CONNECT DATA SOURCES
Learn to connect, import, and transform business information from data sources.

BUILD INTERACTIVE DASHBOARDS
Build intuitive, easy-to-navigate dashboards with Power BI Desktop.

TRANSFORM DATA INTO ACTION
Please note that this course requires participants to use a PC with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power BI Desktop installed. Additionally, a working knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level is necessary to fully engage with the course content and exercises.

Who Should Attend
A variety of professionals will benefit from the Dashboard in a Day workshop:
- Individuals looking to make sense of large amounts of data
- Individuals with limited familiarity with Power BI
- All levels of professionals who use data to sell, market and make decisions and are looking to transform data into actionable organizational intelligence
- No prior Power BI experience is necessary; a familiarity with Excel is recommended

Meet Your Instructor: Amy Phillips
Amy is a former Teaching Professor in the department of Business Information and Analytics, Daniels College of Business and an Adjunct Faculty in Executive Education. Her teaching and professional interests have spanned technical areas in business including web development and database management. She is the co-author of the award winning and best-selling textbook Business Driven Information Systems. Amy received her MEd in educational technology in 1995 from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire, where she was a lecturer. She joined the University of Denver faculty in 2000.
When working with the media, Phillips offers comprehensive knowledge of management information systems. She is the author of the leading MIS textbook in the world, Business-Driven Information Systems, now in its second edition.

Please note this is a technology heavy class. We will be on laptops utilizing Excel and Power BI for most of the workshop. There is a 2- to 3-hour assignment which needs to be completed outside of class time.
