Randy Engel
Biography at a Glance
Randy Engel (MS 2002) was elected executive vice president, strategic development at Newmont Corporation in September 2008, serving in that capacity through his retirement in 2021. During his 15 years tenure as a member of the executive leadership team, he was responsible for overseeing more than $35 billion in strategic growth initiatives and transactions that led Newmont to its present-day status as the world’s largest gold miner. After joining Newmont in 1994, Mr. Engel held various leadership roles in corporate finance, investor relations, strategic and business planning, and corporate treasury. Mr. Engel holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Denver, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado. In addition to serving as the chairman of the Daniels College of Business Executive Advisory Board, Mr. Engel also serves on the Board and Audit Committee of Faraday Copper Corporation, and as the president of the board of the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Youth Development Team. Mr. Engel lives in Crested Butte, Colorado, and enjoys mountain biking, skiing, triathlon and photography.
