Michael J. Ortlip
Mike Ortlip (MBA 1984) is a senior managing director on the NewPoint originations team, where he focuses on providing financing solutions to commercial real estate owners on a national basis through the firm’s Agency, FHA/HUD, Proprietary and third-party loan programs.
Prior to joining NewPoint, Ortlip was a senior vice president at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, where he managed the firm’s headquarters production office in Charlotte, NC. Ortlip had been with Grandbridge and its predecessor companies for 25 years. Over his career, Ortlip has originated more than $7 billion in volume across a variety of loan structures and asset classes, including permanent, acquisition, transitional bridge, mezzanine, preferred equity, and construction financing for multifamily, seniors housing, hotel and other commercial properties.
Ortlip is active in industry organizations and is a regular speaker at conferences. He is a member of Freddie Mac’s Seller/Servicer Conventional Advisory Council, NMHC, the MBA, ICSC and ULI. Ortlip is the Sponsorship Chair of ULI’s Charlotte District Council and a member of NMHC’s Finance Committee. He is a former member of Freddie Mac’s Seller/Servicer Production Advisory Council, Fannie Mae’s inaugural DUS® Originator Subcommittee, Allstate Insurance’s Advisory Council, and the MBA’s Multifamily Steering Committee.
Ortlip holds an MBA with an emphasis in real estate finance from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
