John Spight

John Spight is a vice president for Swinerton, a construction company with over 4,500 employee-owners nationwide. As the Colorado division manager, a role he has held since 2021, John leads the 200-plus Swinerton professionals based in Swinerton’s Colorado office, providing support and technical guidance and fostering a culture of excellence. A graduate of Colorado State University with a bachelor’s degree in construction management, he joined Swinerton in 2012, advancing quickly to become the youngest member of Swinerton’s Colorado leadership team when he was named operations manager in 2019. 

John also serves on the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado Board of Directors, is a Community of Practice Leader with the Colorado Inclusive Economy, and served as the chair of the Professional Advisory Development Board Executive Council for Colorado State University’s Construction Management Program. 

As the beneficiary of strong mentorship his entire life, John believes in the importance of talent development, which drives his focus on college recruiting and employee retention for Swinerton. John’s philosophy is as direct as he is: genuinely care about others, surround yourself with good people, develop them in the way they need to be developed, and never let anybody down.
