Holly Roof, PhD
Holly Roof serves as a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Business Information and Analytics. She began teaching at Daniels part time in 2015 and joined the BIA department full time as a visiting assistant teaching professor in the fall of 2019. Prior to joining DU, Roof taught at Colorado Mountain College high in the mountains of Colorado. She is passionate about empowering students to make a positive difference with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Holly has a PhD in research methods and statistics, an MBA from Daniels, and an MA in gifted and talented education from the University of Northern Colorado. She completed her undergraduate work at Albion College in Michigan, majoring in economics and art.
Her research interests include data and information visualization, outcomes in statistics education, and sports analytics, with an emphasis on judged sports. In 2017, she received the Distinguished Paper Award from the American Educational Research Association. As a consultant, her work includes detailed statistical analysis, reporting to non-statisticians and dashboard design.
In her free time, Holly hikes, skis, rides horses, makes things and plays the ukulele.
