Emily Cozart Boone
Emily joined the Daniels College of Business team in November of 2022. In her role, Emily builds relationships with alumni, friends and parents in Colorado and the Northeast to align donors’ passions and interests with the needs and initiatives of the College. Known in the development industry as an innovator, Emily is also responsible for planning and implementing new strategies that deepen donors’ connections to their areas of giving.
Emily has a 20+ year background in college athletics, most recently with Denver Athletics, where she was associate athletic director for development and oversaw the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Prior to DU, Emily spent seven years at the University of Miami (Florida) and led athletics annual giving efforts and the Building Women Champions Campaign.
Emily’s career began at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she proudly worked for nine years in athletics advancement with The Rams Club, in the UNC Athletics Ticket Office, as a member of the UNC men’s basketball staff and camp coordinator, and as an undergraduate manager for the men’s basketball team.
Emily graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and earned her master’s degree in sport administration from UNC in 2010. She is a proud graduate of the Sport Management Institute (SMI) and Women Leaders’ Institute for Advancement. In 2021, Boone was named to the Executive Committee of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD).
Emily is a native of Brevard, N.C. She and her husband, Josh, have two children, Mackenzie and Noah. In her free time, Emily is a sports fanatic, a wonderfully average athlete and a coach for her children’s youth sport teams.
