Cassidee Carlson

Biography At a Glance

Cassidee Carlson has an extensive background in policing and recently retired from the Aurora, Colorado, Police Department after 20 years of dedicated service. Her time with Aurora PD was dynamic and multifaceted.She spent time as a Field Training Officer, was on a proactive street crimes unit, and was the agency’s first female SWAT sergeant. In addition, she worked in investigations, including internet crimes against children and crimes against children, and as a Public Information Officer in the Media Relations Unit. As Lieutenant, she served as Deputy Commander of Internal Affairs. Upon promotion to Captain, she was assigned to Operations and later appointed District Commander. In 2022, she was appointed as the Operations Division Chief overseeing the entirety of patrol, community policing units, and the School Resource Unit.

Carlson has immersed herself in a variety of diverse training and development environments that have established her as an effective law enforcement professional and an inspiring leader. She completed the Leadership Aurora Development Program and later served on the Board of Directors and completed the University of Denver’s Public Safety Leadership program. Carlson holds a Bachelor of Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri and a Masters of Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver. In addition, she has served as the Logistics Chief with the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation during officer line-of-duty deaths.

Carlson’s leadership extends beyond law enforcement. Given her passion for equity, inclusion, and supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities (and her fierce love of sports), Carlson is very active with Special Olympics Colorado. She serves on the Special Olympics Colorado Board of Directors and continues to serve on the Executive Council for the Law Enforcement Torch Run and volunteers as a Special Olympics coach.
