Biography at a Glance

Alicia Harvey (MBA 1994, BS 1994) is a perfect example of today’s newest generation of leaders. She is young, intelligent, successful and dedicated to improving society by being the example she demands of others. With an unbeatable work ethic, a strong sense of spirituality, and a dedication to mentoring young people, Harvey has engineered a true formula for success.

Currently, Harvey is a Regulatory Analyst with Xcel Energy. Prior to this role, she was a Field Sales Engineer at Keysight Technologies where she was responsible for selling Test and Measurement Products to clients in the San Francisco Bay area, Utah, and Colorado. While at Keysight, her success and natural leadership contributed to her becoming a mentor to new Inside Field Engineers, being charged with the responsibility of developing the fiscal year plans for her team, and to being assigned the task of forecasting and customer database training for the district.

Prior to joining Keysight, Harvey was a student at the University of Denver where she completed the Joint Degree Program and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, and an MBA from the Daniels College of Business. Harvey received several awards for excellence in and out of the classroom while a student at DU. Some of them included: Who’s Who Among College and University Students (’92-’93), Outstanding Minority Undergraduate Award (’93-’94), and Outstanding Service and Dedication Award by the Department of Residence (’93-94).

Harvey has been and still is actively involved in the DU and Denver Community. She has served as the former co-chair (two years) of Colorado’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and continues her affiliation with the organization today out of a dedication to supporting and clearing the way for young people interested in math and the sciences. As well, she is a member of The Links, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Black MBA Association, the Society of Women Engineers, the DU Alumni Admission Council, and a former member of the DU National Alumni Board of Directors (three years). She’s also a 2003 graduate of Senator Gloria Tanner’s Leadership Institute for Future Black Women Leaders of Colorado, and is included in the 2001 edition of Colorado Black Leadership Profiles/Who’s Who Among Colorado’s Outstanding Leaders. She is a recent graduate of the Black Chamber of Commerce’s “Chamber Connect 2014” Leadership Program and currently serves on the Executive Board of Faith Community Baptist Church.

Harvey attributes her success to her faith in Christ, the support of her family, Rev. Alfred E. Harvey, Sr. and Starella M. Harvey of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her brother, Alfred and his wife Erica and her nieces, Alexis Kathryn and Alivia Vivian of Castle Rock, Colorado.

In her spare time, Harvey enjoys spending time with her family, her book club, catching the latest movies, swimming, and working out. And with the mantra of, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Harvey has set a sterling example for many to follow.

Harvey is a native of Anchorage, Alaska; and currently lives in SE Denver, Colorado.
