The Daniels College of Business made a significant climb in the latest U.S. News & World Report list of Best Online MBA Programs and Best Online MBA Programs for Veterans, according to new rankings released Jan. 21.
The Daniels Online MBA came in at No. 65 out of 344 schools—a rise of nine spots from the year before. U.S. News placed the program as the 38th best MBA program for veterans, up 12 spots from the 2024 rankings.
It’s the latest success for the program, which Poets&Quants recently named one of the country’s Top-20 Online MBAs.
“We are proud to be recognized for a program that provides the same personal connection as an in-person MBA with the flexibility of online learning,” said Naomi Boyd, dean of the Daniels College of Business. “Today’s students want to build a curriculum that is most relevant to their interests and their lives, and Daniels delivers.”
To create its rankings, U.S. News weighed five factors: student engagement, peer assessment, faculty credentials, student accomplishments and technologies utilized. The rankings for veterans and active-duty service members credits strong academic programs for enrolling veterans and making available ample financial benefits linked to federal programs.
Online MBA prioritizes personalization
The Daniels Online MBA is a 60-credit program that includes core courses, elective courses, two in-person immersions and a real-world capstone project. Live sessions for each course are held at a scheduled time each week; the remaining coursework is completed on the student’s schedule. Most courses can also be taken in person on the DU campus.
The degree is highly customizable. Students can add one of three fully online concentrations or a custom plan. (Three additional concentrations can be completed with on-campus courses.) They can also adjust the number of courses they take a quarter—from one class to a full-time, four-class course load.
Additionally, students have a chance to take part in two in-person immersions, allowing them to visit businesses and industry sites in the U.S. and abroad. While on these immersions, they build their networks and work collaboratively with their classmates on real-world business problems.
“Even in an online program, we believe it’s important to get students together, whether through live, synchronous, virtual courses or in-person intensive programs,” said Suzy Lindley, senior program director, MBA programs. “It’s the best way for students to build relationships and ensure they leave Daniels with a rich and robust network of peers to leverage and depend on.”
Veterans thrive in Daniels programs
The success of veterans in Daniels programs is well documented. The College’s small class sizes and tight-knit community have long provided a supportive transition to civilian life. Programs play to these students’ strengths, promoting teamwork, leadership development and networking.
The University of Denver covers tuition costs over the GI Bill cap for eligible veterans and their families, making Daniels a fully funded Yellow Ribbon institution. For those who are 100% GI Bill eligible, the Yellow Ribbon program will cover full tuition and fees for any graduate program they choose.
