Join the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management at the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business for two days of wine, food, music and art as part of the Fifth Annual DU Vin Festival. The Festival includes a wine pairing dinner Thursday, May 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. This year, guests will experience food and wine pairings from three top Denver chefs – Alex Seidel from the Mercantile, Daniel Asher of Root Down and Linger, and Keegan Gerhard of D-Bar. The pairing dinner is part of the Knoebel School’s Guest Chef Series, embedded in the Contemporary Cuisine class. The series has previously included three James Beard Award winners, Sunset Magazine’s Chef of the West, and local chefs Frank Bonanno and Paul Reilly.

On Saturday, May 14 is the grand tasting. Guests get to sample more than 100 wines and food from several Denver restaurants including Brio, The Lobby, Mizuna, Mountain Crust, Ted’s Montana Grill and Vesper Lounge. The Festival admission price also includes three educational seminars and a Pairing Challenge where top area chefs team up with Hospitality Management students to create the perfect wine and food pairing. Grand tasting guests vote on their favorite pairing combination and the student/chef team and the winning team receives money toward the charity of its choice.

“This is really the signature event of the Knoebel School that’s planned and executed by the juniors and seniors in a couple of our courses,” says David Corsun, director of the Knoebel School. “They do an outstanding job and this is an event the community has come to look forward to every year.”
