Alibaba can claim the largest initial public offering in history, raising a cool $21.8 billion in Friday’s market debut. And along the way, two people with Colorado connections played roles in the China-based e-commerce giant’s success. Imran Khan is one. He’s head of Internet investment banking for lead Alibaba IPO manager Credit Suisse.
Khan, a 36-year-old Bangladesh native, graduated from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business in 2000 with a bachelor of science in business administration in finance and economics. Khan also hosts an annual get-together with anywhere from 16 to 30 Daniels finance students at his New York City office to network and discuss his time at DU.
