About the Public Good Gala

The Public Good Gala is a collaboration of the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management and the Ethiopian Community Development Council/African Community Center (ACC) in Denver. Offered since 2012, this innovative program helps refugees develop the skills and knowledge needed to obtain jobs in the food service industry. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres followed by a four-course dinner with each course paired with wines from Ceja Vineyards, served by refugees working alongside our hospitality students. The evening’s menu will be under the direction of featured guest chef David Patterson of The Broadmoor.

Come Learn and Celebrate

Come learn and celebrate the innovative partnership between the University of Denver’s Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management and the ECDC/African Community Center of Denver; a resettlement agency dedicated to helping refugees build safe and sustainable lives in Denver. This unique partnership recently won the Worldwide Hospitality Award—Best Educational Innovation and has achieved a job placement rate of 82 percent for refugees being trained for positions in the hospitality industry.

A cocktail hour along with a silent auction will begin the evening followed by a delicious 4-course meal with wine pairing prepared and served by the students of both programs under the guidance of this year’s guest chef, Chef David Patterson from The Broadmoor in Colorado Spring, CO. Wines provided by Ceja Vineyards.
