He currently serves at AVL Growth Partners, a full-stack CFO and Financial Services Firm, providing a full range of financial oversight services to clients—CFO, C-suite services, strategic planning, M&A support, capital advisory, new business launch, and partnerships with full accounting staff as needed—offered through a fractional service to allow small- to mid-sized companies access to a higher level of financial and operational oversight. Hull strives to be an integral member of client teams as their outsourced CFO, board member or advisor.
Previously Hull was partner, CFO and acting COO at Crestone Capital, a $2B wealth advisory and investment management firm serving ultra-high net worth families. Hull led all financial aspects of the firm, both its corporate and private investment management entities. In addition, he served COO functions with lead responsibility for all operational aspects of the firm, including operations and trading in the firm’s regulated brokerage entity.
Hull spent over 15 years with Altira Group, an energy technology–focused venture fund, where he served as an investing general partner (and CFO). Hull was an integral part of establishing the firm as one of the co-Partners at Altira that built a team, an organization and a successful brand of investment funds. As an investing partner, he was responsible for sourcing and investing in companies and then overseeing their success as both a board of directors member and serving in extensive, hands-on C-suite internal operational roles. As CFO, Hull was also responsible for all internal financial aspects of the firm’s 5 investment funds.
During his career Hull has held a dozen board memberships, most with private equity backed, multinational, high growth technology companies across a multitude of sectors and types.
Hull has served as CEO of a venture-backed company, the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of small wind turbines and renewable hybrid systems. He has taken on numerous internal finance and transactional roles, providing extensive C-suite operational support to over a dozen venture-backed companies, located throughout North America, to accelerate their growth.
His early career was with PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand), where he helped launch the firm’s Entrepreneurial Advisory Services Group and provided an array of audit, tax and business advisory services.
Hull earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The College of William and Mary and is a CPA. He is active in his local community and enjoys skiing and ultra-running, as well as spending quality outdoor time with his wife and two children.
