What has been your favorite DU moment?

My favorite DU moment has been getting to see our hockey team win two National Championships! Such a fun time for the DU community and the city as a whole.

What is a piece of media you’d recommend to other students?

My favorite media is music! Any genre would suffice; however, I love Charles Wesley Godwin’s Family Ties album. Not a single skip on that one.

What is your favorite way to get involved on campus?

The best way to get involved on campus is by saying, “YES” more! It doesn’t necessarily have to be through seeking out specific clubs or groups, but by taking advantage of all the opportunities DU has to offer. Some of my best experiences at DU have been through a simple yes.

What is your favorite place to relax?

My favorite place to relax is Wash Park. I enjoy walking around the pond and seeing everyone out and about, its a great way to get outside and decompress.

What is your favorite campus event to attend?

One thing I am looking forward to the most is competing in the National Association of Home Builders Competition. Myself and a few other students will be headed to Las Vegas to represent DU and the Burns Program in a case competition widely known around the nation. My team is the first female-dominated team that DU has brought to Vegas, and I believe it’ll be a great way to represent other women in my aspired industry!

What is one piece of advice that you would tell your first-year self?

The best piece of advice I would give to my first-year self is to not get so caught up in the details of the future. I believe college serves as such a pivotal time, and plans for the future can seem very daunting. I believe it’s easy to get caught up in trying to accomplish the next best thing, and if you only stay focused on what’s ahead, it can be easy to look past the gifts and triumphs of today. Having goals and aspirations is a great thing to have and a great way to stay grounded, but it should never get in the way of appreciating what’s in front of you. I would tell myself to not focus so much on past shortcomings but instead, acknowledge it, analyze what you can do better, and move on. The best thing you can do for yourself is to stay confident in what you have to offer either personally or professionally, and once you know you’ve done all you can your confidence in the future will come. Life is supposed to be fun after all!
