What has been your favorite DU moment?
My favorite DU moment was having the privilege of taking Stephen Haag’s INFO 1010 course before he retired, Neil Pollard’s 4th Industrial Revolution and David Dassler’s Intro to Financial Accounting all within the same quarter.
What is a piece of media you’d recommend to other students?
I recommend reading 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey and Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins. These are great books for anyone who wants to learn how to gain control over their life—starting with controlling your mind.
What is your favorite way to get involved on campus?
Staying involved in the hedge fund club has helped me learn how to trade financial derivatives and develop various short and long-term investment strategies. I have also recently stepped up to lead Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), the national honorary and professional management fraternity, and my goal is to cement our chapter’s presence at Daniels College of Business and help management majors connect with active managers in the field.
What is your favorite place to relax?
My favorite ways to break away from academic stress are training at the gym and going hiking/snowboarding on the weekends.
What is your favorite campus event to attend?
My favorite events to attend are the quarterly career fairs, especially when they are focused on business students. They are always a great opportunity to network and ask questions that will save you time searching for the right job.
What is one piece of advice that you would tell your first-year self?
If I could go back to my first year, one piece of advice I would give myself would be to get involved in more student organizations and get to know more people from the start. You can always leave later if you decide to, and the connections that are made don’t depend on you staying involved in an RSO you decided you don’t want to be in anymore.
