Daniels alumni honored at 2019 Snow Ball

Each year at Snow Ball—Daniels’ winter gala for alumni, faculty and staff—three distinguished alumni are honored for their hard work, in not only their professional careers, but also their engagement with Daniels and DU. The College’s Alumni Engagement Committee under the Daniels Alumni Advisory Board had the pleasure of reading through multiple nominations and selected the 2019 honorees. Each honoree was recognized by fellow alumni or former faculty or staff for their outstanding work and for upholding the mission of Daniels by pioneering business for the public good. The following alumni were recognized for their accomplishments at Snow Ball 2019 (see photos from the event), held on Dec. 5 at Ironworks in Denver.

Eamon Twomey (MBA 2011)

The Ambassador Award is given to an alumnus or alumna who has invested time and service to Daniels. The 2019 award went to Eamon Twomey, senior vice president of operational services at Charles Schwab.

“Eamon Twomey is the archetypical engaged alumnus,” said one nominator. “Eamon supports our MBA programs deeply. He has partnered with the Denver MBA to support the Corporate Challenge, including $10,000 in support yearly from Charles Schwab. This support has happened every year since 2016. He helps frame the work for other host partners at launch. He also hires graduates and guest lecturers.”

Twomey oversees all operations of the custody and asset services organization, which includes tax reporting, cost basis, corporate actions and settlements for Charles Schwab. He joined the organization in April 2013. Before his current role, Twomey was a vice president in both the institutional and retail organizations at Charles Schwab.

Twomey holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Marist College in New York and an Executive MBA degree from the Daniels College of Business. He serves on the Daniels Executive Advisory Board and co-chairs the Colorado Investment Services Coalition.

Andre Janusz (MBA 2005)

The Pioneer Award is bestowed upon an alumnus or alumna who exhibits outstanding leadership within a new business or industry. This year’s winner is Andre Janusz, founder of Logan House Coffee.

“Andre is an exemplary example of what it takes to be an entrepreneur,” said one nominator. “He embraced the entrepreneurial spirit of the Daniels College of Business and has turned his dream of wearing a trucker hat and cowboy boots to work every day a reality.”

Before settling in Denver, Janusz pursued a career in international business. He worked in Hong Kong as an international marketing manager for a small telecommunications provider before moving onto roles with Cisco Systems and AT&T Professional Services.

He launched Logan House Coffee in 2012 and has expanded the business to three Denver metro locations. The flagship coffee shop is inside Stanley Marketplace in Aurora, Colorado. A second location is in the Broadway Market and a third retail location is opening soon at the 40-story tower in the RiNo neighborhood.

Janusz originally hails from Chicago. He received his MBA from Daniels in 2005 and his undergraduate degree from Eckerd College in 1997.

Shannon Sisler (MBA 2007)

The Steward Award is given to an alumnus or alumna who has shown effective and consistent leadership and has been a steward of long-term business success. Shannon Sisler is the recipient of the 2019 Steward Award.

“Shannon has been a model for pioneering business for the public good,” said her nominator. “She has been a catalyst for positive change wherever her professional career has taken her. If there was ever a model alum that displayed consistent leadership and long-term business success, it would be Shannon.”

As the senior vice president and chief people officer for Crocs, Sisler is a business-minded, progressive leader with a successful track-record in building, directing and transforming human resources practices that enable high-level success for global corporations. Prior to Crocs, she worked for Western Union, DaVita and Janus Capital.

Sisler earned her Executive MBA from Daniels and received her bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Colorado, Boulder (CU). Sisler currently serves on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of Colorado and is the board governance chair. She also serves on the board for CU’s Leeds School of Business and CU Denver South.
