The Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) Professional Accounting Society will be preparing tax returns for the Denver community through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA first started in 1969 through the IRS with a purpose to provide free tax returns for those who are unable to afford tax preparation fees and those who do not have the knowledge of the U.S. tax system.

The DU VITA program will operate under the same goals by having 60 or more accounting students that are members of Beta Alpha Psi and members of the Daniels community who will volunteer their time to prepare tax returns. Returns will be available for low-income community members and international scholars/students. To ensure accuracy, Certified Public Accountants and tax professors will review each return. The DU VITA program is a great experiential learning opportunity for students and volunteers while being a way to reach out to the community.

To sign up for an appointment you can go to the Denver BAP website or sign up through Eventbrite. Colorado VITA sites and more information are listed on If the site is full, please feel free to contact the other sites in Denver for the same free tax preparation services.
