DENVER – Sure, you can eat cake … or you can smash it in your face.
And if enough people engage in cake-smashing they can set a world record – potentially earning eternal glory, though they are missing out on cake.
That was the goal of a group of University of Denver marketing students Sunday. The event got messy. Frosting was all over people’s clothes and hair, and even the DU mascot got a piece of cake in his face.
But at the end of the day, organizers believe their goal – a world record – was met.
“It feels good. It feels like victory,” DU marketing student Malia Bacig said. “It feels like victory, and tastes like cake.”
She hopes that cake smashing will become a yearly tradition at DU – partially to promote school spririt and partially because, let’s be real, everyone loves cake.
