What are your responsibilities and contributions as a member of Staff Council?
I joined Daniels Staff Council (formerly Staff Advocacy Board) in January 2024! The purpose of the Daniels Staff Council is to represent staff interests, address concerns and advocate for policies that improve the working environment and overall staff wellbeing within the Daniels College of Business. While Staff Council doesn’t have official titles (yet), I lean into my role on the communications team at Daniels to help share council announcements with Daniels staff.
What motivates you in serving in this role and how do you find it fulfilling and important for your professional development?
Staff members are an essential part of the College’s overall success and deserve to have their perspectives heard by College and University leadership. I saw an opportunity to contribute to this effort by representing the communications and marketing team on the Staff Council. I strongly believe we can cultivate a workplace that supports its employees while enhancing the student experience, creating an environment where people feel valued and empowered. Serving on Staff Council has allowed me to collaborate with colleagues across departments and contribute to initiatives that improve the day-to-day experiences of my coworkers.
