As some of you may may recall, I lived in American Samoa for a couple of years constructing American Samoa’s renewable energy infrastructure. I now live in Honolulu, Hawaii and am able further enjoy my energy work at he University of Hawaii’s Hawaii Natural Energy Institute. I continue working on grid integration (smart grid) and renewable energy penetration on island power grids as well as conduct research on smart grid technology. My love for American Samoa has not gone away and therefore, I was able to convince the University of Hawaii to send myself and a team from GE Power out to Samoa to discuss with the Utility increasing the penetration of renewable energy on their small island energy grid system over the past. At any rate, while there I took my team around the island to show them sites of interest and locations that could help them paint a picture of my life while there. One stop happened to be Tisa’s barefoot bar (a bar and grill one would only imagine existed in the movies).
To my surprise there was a University of Denver flag still flying high from the rafters, which I presented to the restaurant bar owners almost three years ago. I thought you may find these pictures a token of my appreciation to the faculty and staff which have made my career of traveling and making a difference a reality. I love to show my pride and connection to the University of Denver and all it has done for me,…..proud to be an Alumni of our beloved Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management!
