The newly- renovated Margery Reed Hall, now part of the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver, will host its grand-opening on April 8, 2014 and students and visitors will get to see a piece of campus history that’s been covered for more than 80 years. While teaching at DU, Denver artist John Edward Thompson painted a mural around the stage in the theater in the building. The school says that 18 months later, a new theater director painted the mural and the rest of the theater black. An art researcher started looking into Thompson’s history in 2006 and conservators discovered the mural around the stage in the theater. Crews spent the next seven years securing funding and restoring the mural. The theater will now serve as a meeting area where speakers can address a crowd and for performances such as piano recitals.
