If you could tell your past-self one thing before you started grad school, what would it be?

I would want to tell myself to spend more time listening to others. Don’t waste an opportunity to learn from someone else’s experience to better prepare yourself in the future.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

Push yourself out of your comfort zone. You will find out that you are capable of doing many things you wouldn’t dare to think of before.

What is your favorite thing about living in Denver?

My favorite thing about living in Denver is 300 days of sunshine! I have spent the last four years living in Milwaukee, and I’m over seeing snow pile up in front of my door. I also love going to the mountains to hike and appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature.

Why did you want to pursue a graduate business degree?

When I was an undergraduate, I was more introversive, and that stopped me from participating in a lot of wonderful campus events and opportunities to meet with business professionals. I wanted to pursue an advanced degree not only to acquire new skillsets, but also to push myself to be more outgoing and not pass up opportunities to network.

Is there a particular class at Daniels that really stands out?

The Business Statistic class with Professor Phil Beaver has taught me a lot. If you think that is just a regular math class, you are wrong. As analysts, we are required to utilize data to solve a business problem. Every aspect of your life will require you to think of or use statistic to calculate the best outcome.

How has Daniels prepared you to be market-ready?

The Daniels Career Center has been an invaluable resource. The career coaches are always there to help whenever you are feeling overwhelmed or confused about job searches, and can help refine your interview skills by assisting with mock interviews.
