The Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management hosted the fourth annual DU Vin Wine Festival May 16–18. Du Vin (French for “the wine”) is a student-planned event that gives senior hospitality management students hands-on experience developing and running a high-end culinary and wine event.
DU Vin kicked off on Thursday, May 16, with a five-course wine-pairing dinner prepared by the renowned Chef Frank Bonanno, owner and chef of eight Denver restaurants.
The May 18 Grand Tasting allowed guests to sample wines from around the world and enjoy food prepared by the student culinary team at the Knoebel School. Vintners included Robert Mondavi, Montes, Ruffino, Tenuta di Arcino and Paul Dolan. Music was provided by DU’s Lamont School of Music.
The proceeds of the DU Vin Wine Festival fund Knoebel student scholarships. The Knoebel School of Hospitality Management is one of the few hospitality schools in the world housed within a college of business, and one of the most renowned programs in the country. The state-of-the-art building includes a 2,800-square-foot production kitchen and a 170-person Tuscan-themed banquet facility.
