Rocky Mountain Cable Association hosts Twelfth Annual Cable Apprentice Competition

Graduate students from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business will compete in the Twelfth Annual Cable Apprentice Competition Friday, March 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Comcast Mountain West Office, 8000 East Iliff Ave, Denver, CO 80231. The teams are charged with pitching a long-term strategy for sustaining in the ever-evolving media space.

The event gives the DU students real-life, cable business-case studies for intensive research and analysis. The teams will present their recommendations live in front of an all-star panel of cable executive judges including Rich DiGeronimo, Charter’s EVP of Product & Strategy and an industry studio audience. This year’s competition will explore the topic “Positioning on The Playing Field: Media Companies Outlook.”

“We are excited to bring University of Denver students and the Cable Industry together for the Annual Cable Apprentice,” says RMCA President Aaron Voss. “This is one of our flagship events where these students get an opportunity to present strategic and innovative solutions to real world challenges directly to the Industry Leaders who are facing these challenges today.”

The winning team will split the grand prize of $4,500 and each member now has a preferred opportunity for a local paid cable industry internship. Previous hiring companies included Charter Communications, Comcast, Sand Cherry Associates and Starz. Since its inception, 16 “Cable Apprentice” competitors have secured permanent jobs at area cable industry companies following successful internships.

The event is $35 for members, $85 for Non-Members and FREE for DU students.
