Daniels College of Business hosts Voices of Experience May 16
The University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business will host Voices of Experience Thursday, May 16, at 6 p.m. at the Newman Center for Performing Arts at the University of Denver. The keynote speaker is Abdulfattah Sharaf, a DU alumnus and the CEO for HSBC in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In addition to the UAE, Sharaf is responsible for the bank’s operations in Bahrain, Kuwait and Algeria as the Head of International markets in the Middle East.
With Daniels Dean Brent Chrite as the host and moderator for this event, the two will discuss Sharaf’s experience growing up in the United Arab Emirates, his career journey, focus on diversity within his teams and his perspective on the importance of internationalization.

Governance and ethics in the financial sector
Geopolitical challenges and their economic impact
Emerging markets and the evolution of trade between China, India and the Middle East
Before his appointment as CEO of UAE, Sharaf was the CEO of personal financial services, Middle East and North Africa, and responsible for all of HSBC’s retail banking business in the MENA region. Before joining HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, Sharaf was CEO of NBD Securities, a subsidiary of Emirates NBD.
