Recruiting Suite Opening Celebration

It was a party on the second floor of Daniels Thursday afternoon as people gathered to celebrate the official opening of Career Services’ Recruiting Suite.

“What makes this place special is our capacity to focus intentionally and relentlessly on the experience of our students,” said Daniels Dean Brent Chrite.

The Recruiting Suite provides students with a dedicated space for interviews, and they will not have to give up their study rooms every time an employer is here.

“We also wanted to improve the experience for our employers who visit campus,” said Daniels Career Services Executive Director Pat Perrella. “With 97 employers coming to campus last year, and the number expected to increase, we wanted to make sure each one has a positive impression of Daniels and a great space to interview our students.”

The suite in Daniels 235 is equipped with six interview rooms that can accommodate both in-person and phone/Skype interviews, as well as a spacious waiting/lounge area, that can be set up in multiple configurations.

“We wanted the space to look and feel different compared to the rest of Daniels; I think we achieved that,” Perrella said. “The idea being that we wanted students to feel that being there should drive a different behavior – not just being a student, but being a professional.”

Members of the Executive Advisory Board (EAB) attended the ceremony, which was fitting since their contributions funded the renovations. EAB Co-Chair Wade Loo thanked the board for contributing the $170,000 to make the construction happen.

Daniels Career Services hosted Zayo in the suite the day before, conducting interviews with 24 students.

The space is decorated with Daniels history: an actual diploma from 1891, a picture of the faculty from 1955 and the portraits of the class of 1913. Photos of the current student body will be added too.

The Recruiting Suite is just one of a handful of renovation and construction projects undertaken recently in direct response to the College’s strategic priority to provide an unparalleled student experience. Daniels recently celebrated the completion of renovations to the Graduate Studio, the first phase of the CiBiC marketing behavioral lab and the renovation of the Marsico Investment Center.
