pioneerblog-gsbagolf1The Graduate Business Student Association (GBSA) is the student government at Daniels.  Each fall, the GBSA hosts a Golf Tournament and invites students, faculty, staff, and alumni.  Although I have never so much as swung a golf club, I went to this year’s tournament and had an absolute blast.pioneerblog-gsbagolf2

Daniels Graduate Women in Business (DGWiB) purchased a hole at the tournament and held a bake sale to raise money for a charity event next spring.  Getting to the hole was quite the challenge—I was so proud that I learned how to drive a golf cart (although I almost ran over some toes in the process).  At the hole, we had the opportunity to meet all of the golfers, and it was quite an entertaining mix.  Some people had never played before and could barely hit the ball. Some had been playing for years and glared at us if we talked too loudly while they were trying to tee off.  Others were in it for the outfits, and brought out their finest argyle sweaters and socks.  Regardless of their experience level, however, everyone had an amazing time!pioneerblog-gsbagolf3

In spite of several hungry bees and squirrels, the threat of the sun melting our goodies, and some very confused golfers who weren’t part of the Daniels event, DGWiB’s bake sale was a great success. Thanks to several generous donors who gave us $20 for a Betty Crocker cupcake or a piece of fudge, we managed to raise $164.  We were thrilled to meet such a fascinating mix of people from around the Daniels community, and we were honored to be a part of such an exciting day!pioneerblog-gsbagolf4
