This spring, the Daniels College of Business launched an ambitious and forward-thinking strategic positioning strategy to define our bold, new approach to the management education marketplace. As an institution with a rich history and reputation for educating well-rounded business leaders who are as committed to values-based leadership and ethical practice as they are to innovation and entrepreneurship, we recognize that the world is changing before our very eyes. As we have time and time again, Daniels must pioneer change. The 21st-century marketplace, after all, calls for professionals who can tackle complex problems while the ground on which they stand shifts constantly.

In less than six months, Daniels will unveil a flagship program that embraces this very thinking. The Denver MBA will disrupt the traditional model of management education by offering challenge-driven learning that drives personal and professional development. We are incredibly excited about this program, which will set the standard for all Daniels programs. It will build upon our strengths and introduce an entirely new way of educating tomorrow’s professionals.

Several generous corporate partners and friends are joining us in these efforts. Examples include Daniels alumni Michael and Kathy Azeez, who have presented a $500,000 gift to fund one of four challenges of the Denver MBA (the global challenge) and enhance the international experiences of MBA students who travel to Israel. Arrow Electronics sponsored the inaugural Ideation Challenge, an interdisciplinary program that invited students from Daniels, the Sturm College of Law and the Daniels Felix Ritchie School of Engineering & Computer Science to apply design-thinking framework to solve a real-world issue.

While our work is never finished, the business community is taking note of our College’s continued dedication to delivering excellence. This month, Bloomberg Businessweek announced that Daniels is the top undergraduate business school in Colorado, at No. 56 in the nation on their Best Undergraduate Business Schools ranking.

These accomplishments and positive steps forward make for an incredibly exciting time here at Daniels, and we’re enthusiastic about all that is to come. The Daniels College has long been recognized for attributes such as our rich experiential opportunities and global experiences and for our rigorous, market-relevant programs. We have earned a worldwide reputation for engaging students in innovative ways to build a strong ethical framework to guide them throughout their careers—a framework that will help professionals make decisions in an increasingly complex business environment. We continue to be guided by the pillars of our past, while embracing our priority touchstones for the future.

As always, we welcome and appreciate the support and engagement of our Daniels community. Thank you for playing an essential role in our evolution to become an exceptional leader in management education.
