Entrepreneurship@DU Speaker Series with Bryan Leach
Entrepreneurship@DU Spring 2021 Speaker Series is delighted to feature Bryan Leach speaking on:
How to Stumble to Your First Check
Shopping can be a drag… but it doesn’t have to be. Thanks to industry gamechangers like iBotta, millions of users earn cash back for regular-old purchases they make every day. Founder and CEO Bryan Leach says his goal is for iBotta to be every shopper’s first stop when they take a trip to the store.
But iBotta didn’t drop out of thin air. Bryan Leach’s education took him from Harvard, across the Atlantic to Oxford, and back again to Yale Law School. After an impressive tenure as a clerk in the US Supreme Court, his love for the outdoors brought him to Colorado.
iBotta’s concept struck Leach years before he made his way westward. Six years ago, in the basement of his Denver home, the app was finally born – but it didn’t take off running. It took time to navigate Denver’s growing startup community. Raising the funds felt like an endless uphill battle.
What do you do when that perfect idea sparks? How do you stumble your way to your first paycheck? Join us to find out how one of Denver’s top CEO’s got his idea off the runway and in the air.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Bryan Leach founded Ibotta in 2012, when he realized the need for a more innovative approach to connecting brands, retailers and consumers through mobile technology. Bryan made it his mission to empower smartphone-savvy shoppers with an easy way to earn cash back on their everyday purchases. Today, the company is the industry leader in performance-based marketing in both offline and e-commerce environments. Ibotta’s app has been downloaded more than 40 million times and the company has paid over $750 million in cash back, which has helped millions of people pay for life’s necessities, such as health care, education, food, and shelter. Bryan is a frequent commentator on mobile payments, mobile commerce, loyalty and rewards, and the financial technology sector. He has been recognized as a Top 10 CEO in the United States (small/medium size businesses) by Glassdoor.com, CEO of the Year by ColoradoBiz magazine, and EY Entrepreneur of the Year for the Rocky Mountain Region.
Prior to Ibotta, Bryan was a partner at a leading law firm and served as a law clerk for Justice David Souter at the U.S. Supreme Court. Bryan is a graduate of Harvard, Oxford and Yale Law School.
