Entrepreneurship@DU Speaker Series: Networking 101

Entrepreneurship@DU invites you to join us for another exciting Speaker Series!

Networking 101 for Students, Professors, and Other Shy People

How to Build Long Lasting Relationships For a Happy Life and Successful Career

Have you ever asked yourself any of the following questions?
Why does he know so many people?
How does she always come up with someone who can help?
What are the hidden secrets of networking?
Can I get to Kevin Bacon in 6 steps or less?

Networking is hard. Becoming successful at school, in your career, and following your passion requires meeting and connecting with other people. But networking is hard, especially for introverts. Sadly, it’s not a course they teach you in college. (At least not Harvard!) If you’d like to pick up some networking tips and be able to answer those questions, please join us for “Networking for Students, Professors, and Other Shy People.” This will be an interactive workshop where you will practice – guess what – networking!

Our workshop leader will be Chesley Chen (he, him, his) Principal, Life Sciences & Health Care at CLA, the nation’s 8th largest outsourcing, consulting, and accounting firm. He has been building his network over his 40-year career in life sciences, engineering, and financial services working with start-ups and large corporations including Goldman Sachs, Moderna, and Hughes Aircraft Company. He mentors start-ups at Harvard Business School and UMass Lowell, and has served on the Boards and Advisory Boards of five startups.

Chesley holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Tufts University, M.S. in Aeronautics & Astronautics from MIT (yep, rocket science), and M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Ches is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver and guest lecturer on entrepreneurship at Babson College, Harvard University, UMass Lowell, and Brown University. He’s a devoted family man, rock climber, and black belt in karate where he finds his zen.
