The Daniels College of Business launched its inaugural “Guest Chef” Dining Series in early February with internationally-renowned Italian-American chef Gina Stipo.  In April and May, attendees will experience the legendary cuisine of two James Beard Award-winning chefs paired with iconic California wines.

On April 18th, Saipin Chutima, the 2011 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Southwest and whose Las Vegas “Lotus of Siam” is widely acknowledged as the best Thai restaurant in the United States, will bring her artistry to Denver.  Dinner seatings will be available every 15 minutes from 6:00pm-7:30pm with live jazz entertainment provided by University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. Tickets are priced at $85 per person, or $450 for a table of six, and the dinners will be held at the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management, 2044 E. Evans Avenue in Denver.

The next dinner is scheduled for May 26th; Michael Schwartz, winner of the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: South in 2010, and owner of Miami restaurant “Michael’s  Genuine Food & Drink,” long acknowledged as one of the legendary Miami restaurants, will be working with Knoebel school students.

“The Knoebel School will offer an unprecedented dining experience,” said David Corsun, Knoebel School director.  “This Guest Chef series gives the local Denver community the chance to experience a part of culinary history without leaving Colorado and our students the opportunity to work with some of the very best chefs in the world today.”

Knoebel students will help plan every detail of the Guest Chef Dining Series, working with each chef on the menu, wine pairings, dinner organization and staffing.  All proceeds from the Guest Chef Series will benefit professional development and experiential education for the students at the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management.
