The Bi-Weekly Undergrad Update

Welcome back, Daniels students!

[Cross posted from Blackboard.du.edu]

I hope the transition back into classes has gone smoothly and that you are ready for a great year with some new additions and opportunities for you as a business student and Denver Pioneer. As senators for the Daniels College of Business (Vanessa Torres-Gangoo and myself) and the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (Dario Ogaz) in the Undergraduate Student Government (USG), we will be doing a bi-weekly blog to keep you up to speed on recent and upcoming events, the activities of various student organizations, as well as what’s going on within the USG. Each post will be up on Facebook and Blackboard, and we invite you to comment on the posts with any suggestions or questions, or e-mail us at dcb.senators@gmail.com.

The Undergraduate Business Student Association (UBSA) is launching a new program to help enhance student participation in the many events throughout the year. The UBSA Ambassadors program will select the top juniors and seniors to serve as liaisons to their respective departments so that professors are aware of the many undergraduate events of Daniels in an effort to increase student participation. In return, these ambassadors will receive exclusive access to recruiters and corporate partners as they prepare to enter the workforce.

Next week, check out the Daniels Entrepreneurship Society’s meeting next Tuesday the 28th from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Schneider Boardroom (6th floor DCB) with the cofounder and former VP of Operations of COINSTAR, who will discuss strategies behind beginning a start-up and how to keep it competitive, or the Professional Networking Night with the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 pm at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (cost is $20, but if you attend the DES event on Tuesday and register as a member, it only costs $5).

Don’t forget to follow the Backpacks to Briefcases website for information on upcoming professional development events. Also, be sure to stop by the Daniels Welcome Back Lunch on Thursday (get your lunch ticket ahead of time in Margery Reed) to get connected with student organizations and area professionals. Have a great week!

In Pioneer Spirit,

Charlie Wondergem
