One Afternoon = Big Opportunity: The Colorado Business School Career Fair

August 25, 2015 |

Daniels Career Services invites you to don your best suit, shine your leather portfolio, and join us on Thursday, September 17 at Sports Authority Field for the second annual Colorado Business School Fair!

Once again, the University of Denver, University of Colorado Boulder, and Colorado State University have teamed up to organize this uniquely collaborative event that gathers the best and brightest in b-school talent. Yes, career fairs are scary and overwhelming. But much like that blind date your aunt once arranged, you just have to accept the uncomfortable premise and move on to the larger goal: getting a J-O-B.

At the Colorado Business School Fair, students (undergrad, grad, and alum) will meet face-to-face with the hiring decision-makers from top employers in the Denver area, and across the country.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, approximately 70 percent of jobs are found through networking. Furthermore, 80 percent of available jobs are never advertised, so join us in September to discover what’s waiting for you. This will be your one-stop-shop to actually interact with companies – whether you are exploring a career path or pursuing your dream job, there will be someone at Mile High for you!

Tips for Success

Don’t squander the opportunity to converse with hundreds of companies just because it’s “far away.” Unless you do your homework for career fairs, they can be a colossal waste of time…for you and the recruiter. So start early and start simple!

  1. Tweak your Résumé: Even if you think it’s flawless, take another peek at your resume. Have you updated your education information, added club involvement, and changed the verb tense on your last job? You’re constantly evolving so your resume should be too!
  2. Perfect that Pitch: Be 100% prepared to answer “tell me about yourself” with a confident, concise spiel. Briefly cover background (professional and education) and skills (technical and interpersonal) but focus on the future (clear career goal and aspirations) and the companies themselves (what you can do for them and what is so attractive about them).
  3. Visit a Career Coach: Make an appointment with your career coach to have your resume reviewed or career plan assessed. Schedule a specific time through Pioneer Web. See you September 17th!!
