Daniels College of Business appoints Thomas Dowd as Director of Globalization

Press Release

DENVER -- The Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver today announced the appointment of Thomas Dowd as Director of Globalization for the College. He will lead a College-wide initiative to embed a global perspective through curricula, global experiences, international students at Daniels and alumni around the world. "Globalization is a vital part of our five-year strategic plan, Daniels Tomorrow," said Christine Riordan, Dean of the Daniels College of Business.  "In order to meet the evolving demands of the global marketplace, our students will need to understand the political, ethical, economic and social ramifications of business decisions, on a local, national and international level."

Dowd will direct a globalization committee at Daniels to develop an enrollment and recruiting strategy for international students, engage international students at Daniels, facilitate ways for Daniels students to have a global experience, review curriculum for a global perspective, and implement global and internationalization training for faculty and staff.

"I am honored to play this key role in developing the Daniels globalization activities," said Dowd.  "Ultimately, successful university globalization strategies acknowledge the strengths, needs and strategic goals of the institution.  As a world-class academic institution, it is essential that at Daniels we increase our global research, outreach, partnerships, travel opportunities, and recruitment activities. Our activities in these areas will open up significant opportunities for students, faculty and alumni of the College."

He was most recently a consultant in international program development at the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, working with college and university administration in the development, design, marketing and delivery of international education programs in the United Kingdom, Middle East and Asia. Prior to Notre Dame, he served as senior director of program development in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at the University of Virginia. Dowd holds a J.D from St. Louis University and a B.A. in history from the University of Notre Dame
