Daniels Helps Institute Plan to Solve Forest Devastation in Colorado

The impact of the beetle devastation on the national forest system within Colorado has reached a tipping point, threatening the economic vitality of the state as well as Colorado and the entire Western Region. In response, the Blue Knight Group, a 503c non-profit organization, formed to organize the somewhat disjointed efforts by several organizations to address the problem into a cohesive systemic plan combating the epidemic's impact. The Blue Knight Group's involvement on such a significant issue has garnered the support from the Office of Colorado State Governor Bill Ritter, US Senator Mark Udall, US Congressman Jared Polis, US Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack, and Summit County Commissioner Richard Dziomba.

How You Can Get Involved

Daniels was selected by the Blue Knight Group to be a major partner in creating and implementing the plan to deal with the beetle devastation. Accordingly, Daniels is forming a Student Action Team designed to give students real world experience and industry contacts. There are several opportunities across all academic disciplines, and Daniels students are invited to apply regardless of experience.
