Helpful Hints About Applying For Financial Aid
- Before any financial aid is awarded, you must be admitted as a graduate student. U.S. citizens applying for needbased assistance must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This application must be submitted to the University Office of Student Financial Services.
Do not wait to be admitted before starting the application process for financial aid—this normally takes four to six weeks at a minimum.
- Apply to the graduate school early—preferably by March 15 for fall quarter entry, and December 15 for spring quarter entry. Financial aid is awarded on a funds-available basis. Continuing students who applied for financial aid last year should complete the renewal application mailed to them in December. Students who did not receive a renewal FAFSA may complete a regular FAFSA, but not both.
- Reapply for financial aid annually. Need-based aid can change.
- Most awards require full-time enrollment (eight credit hours).
- When completing financial aid forms, please be sure to include the current Institutional Verification Form (IVF).
