Program, Year (1st, 2nd), and Concentration:
1st Year IMBA with a concentration in Corporate Finance
Where are you from and what were you doing before you came to Daniels?
I grew up in New Jersey but moved to Pennsylvania to obtain an Engineering Degree at Lehigh University. Promptly after graduation, I moved to the Colorado Mountains to ski as much as humanly possible before entering into the real world. After one season, I moved back east and got a job in Manhattan at AllianceBernstein, a large money management institution. After a year of working in the City, I was selected to move to Denver to help the firm open a satellite office. I stayed there for another three years before transitioning into a project management role at Wall Street On Demand, a web solutions firm in Boulder. I spent two years at the company working to build financial analysis tools before quitting in February of 2011 to become a full time graduate student at Denver University.
Extracurricular activities that you are involved with:
International Business Association, Student Advisory Board for Career Services, Mentorship Program at Daniels, Board of Directors for a Charitable Organization (Wilderness On Wheels) and anything that involves the outdoors.
What brought you to Daniels:
I have lived in Denver for six years now and have fallen in love with the work hard, play hard culture. So, for me, the decision to pursue my MBA in Denver was easy. I had heard native Denverites extolling the IMBA program at Daniels and when I investigated the credentials of both the school and the professors, I decided Daniels was my number one choice. I will not only get a top-notch education but will make many contacts in the greater Denver area that will, hopefully, help me find a position in corporate finance after graduation.
A little about your experience at Daniels thus far:
My time at Daniels has been more enjoyable than I expected. Coming into the program I was a little apprehensive about leaving the work force during a time when jobs were in short supply. But after a few months, I am confident that I have made the right decision. It is inspiring to sit in class each day with highly intelligent and motivated students with a wide range of work experience and knowledge. In addition, we have students from all corners of the world who help provide a different view point on a particular subject. It has been great to get to know everyone both in and out of the classroom. I have not been part of any international travel with school just yet, but I am signed up for the 2012 trip to Tanzania. I am extremely excited. If you have an interest, the school provides fantastic opportunities to explore the world.
