Degrees and programs offered by the Burns School

The Franklin L. Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management offers undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs. The rigorous curriculum, hands-on training and opportunities to build a collaborative network of peers and colleagues uniquely position you for success upon graduation.

Degree Programs

Graduate Degree Programs

  • Master of Science in Real Estate and the Built Environment (on campus): The MS REBE gives you the full range of real estate, property development and integrated project delivery you need to succeed in real estate development. It can be completed in one year full-time or 18-months part-time.
  • Executive Masters of Real Estate and the Built Environment (online): A flexible, online degree program designed for working professionals with at least seven years of relevant work experience who want to progress in their corporate or entrepreneurial careers in real estate, construction management and facilities management. One three-day course in residence is required in addition to your online studies. The program is offered via synchronous online classes offered once/week. It can be completed in as little as 18 months or up to five years

Undergraduate Degree Programs

  • Undergraduate: Majors and minors in real estate, property development construction project management are available to undergraduate students.

Non-Degree Programs

  • Executive graduate certificate in real estate and the built environment (online): This online certificate program is designed for experienced professionals who wish to enhance an existing foundation in real estate or construction management. The program requires you to select four online courses (16 credits total). These four courses can be put towards the Executive online MS in real estate and the built environment, with an approved application.
  • Graduate business certificates in real estate and the built environmentCertificate programs for new or experienced real estate and construction management professionals provide the latest knowledge, technical tools and unparalleled industry access you will need to gain a competitive edge. Each certificate program consists of four required graduate-level courses (16 credit hours). 
  • Energy Land Management Certificate Program (ELM): Designed for landmen, lease and title analysts, attorneys, land owners and others in the industry seeking formal land-management training. The required and elective courses can be taken according to personal schedules and preferences.

The Burns School annually hosts an acclaimed real estate scholar to participate in classroom and off-campus activities to enrich our student’s experience. In addition to lectures and classroom discussions, Visiting Scholars lead interactive luncheons hosted by the Burns Society, an industry leader think-tank.

Visiting Scholars are Nominated by Faculty, Students and Alumni

Nomination Forms for Visiting Scholars are due the first week of every March. Complementing the Visiting Scholars program, the School also invites industry experts to bring real-world insight and experience to the classroom on a regular basis.
