Biography at a Glance
Gary Farmar is a lecturer in the Reiman School of Finance. In addition to finance courses, he also lectures for the School of Accountancy. Prior to coming to the University of Denver, Farmar spent 30 years in the corporate business world. A CPA by background, he began his career in the auditing division of Arthur Andersen & Co. After several years, he then went to work for an oil and gas company for nine years. During that time, he held senior-level accounting and finance positions, including being controller of the company during his last three years. Farmar then worked for 18 years for Newmont Mining Corporation, as a vice president with various accounting and finance responsibilities. During his time at Newmont, he was controller, vice president of Internal Audit, vice president of Corporate Planning and during his last three years was Finance director of Newmont’s Australian subsidiary.
