The MBA in school leadership is a customized concentration of the Full-time MBA program. It is a unique collaboration between the Daniels College of Business, the Morgridge College of Education and Get Smart Schools, a non-profit organization working to increase the number of high-quality schools serving low-income students in Colorado's Front Range. The degree will offer the next generation of school administrators an opportunity to develop new ways to meet the many challenges facing elementary and secondary schools.

"Students will gain a much more diverse and in-depth perspective of educational leadership than those in traditional business or educational programs. It's a true collaboration between the Daniels and Morgridge Colleges to provide a sound business foundation to the educational process."

Christine Riordan, Ph.D.
Dean, Daniels College of Business

21st Century schools demand leaders who understand the business of education.

  • Launching in Spring quarter 2010, the MBA in school leadership is an integrated, cohorted program that ties together the content of the Full-time MBA program and the content from the school leadership program in Morgridge.
  • Students will graduate from the program with an MBA and the higher education requirements necessary for principal licensure in the State of Colorado.
  • The MBA in school leadership prepares students for successful careers as principals, superintendants and other educational administrators.
  • The program is also designed for those seeking to make a change in the world of education through beginning or leading autonomous or charter schools. Unlike traditional principal preparation, this gives participants both the business and instructional expertise to manage and lead schools closing the academic achievement gap.
  • Students take the MBA core of 56 credit hours along with a concentration of 24 hours in school leadership.
