Daniels College of Business strives to cultivate two important missions: to honor the philanthropic spirit of our college’s namesake, Bill Daniels and collaborate with Daniels alumni. During the 2012 Daniels Week celebration, Daniels and alumna Carol Tomé of Home Depot teamed together to build a better community. The Home Depot Foundation’s Team Depot program awarded $20,000 to Volunteers of America (VOA) Colorado Branch for the landscaping of the Brandon Center’s outdoor space and learning center as part of its Women in Leadership project. The VOA Brandon Center-Theodora House is a 118-bed shelter in the metro area providing emergency shelter for homeless women and their children and homeless female veterans.

On Friday, April 27, 2012, more than 250 University of Denver and Daniels volunteers joined the Team Depot program to complete this massive landscaping project. The Daniels College of Business is grateful to everyone at Volunteers of America and Home Depot for allowing students, faculty and staff an opportunity to extend their philanthropic learning outside of the classroom and into the community.
