As a current student at Daniels, it is likely that you have fully embraced the Colorado lifestyle and everything it has to offer. Between the mountains and the breweries, the ski slopes and the Broncos — living in Colorado certainly has its perks. However, there is a lot to be said for exploring opportunities outside of the Mile High City.
The 2015 Daniels City Treks program will lead a select group of undergraduate and graduate students to Los Angeles, California to meet and network with some of southern California’s top employers, including NBC Universal, Bender Spink and Pacific Life. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with Daniels alumni and to get a feel for the southern California lifestyle.
Commonly known as the Golden State, California averages nearly 300 days of sunshine each year. California’s beaches, endless entertainment options and active lifestyle make this Pacific state a popular destination for recent graduates. Perhaps most importantly, California’s enormous economy has a wealth of career opportunities for young professionals. Home to over 50 Fortune 500 companies, California represents nearly 13% of the entire U.S. economy. Of these Fortune 500 companies, nearly half of them are based in Los Angeles County.
Los Angeles, also known as “LA,” or “The City of Angels,” is a world center of business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, technology and education. LA is often referred to as the “Entertainment Capital of the World” due to Hollywood’s leading role in the creation of motion pictures, television, video games and recorded music. In recent years, Los Angeles has also distinguished itself as a leader in other industries like information technology, petroleum, health services, finance and biotechnology. Additionally, the city’s young, diverse and highl- educated population has served to cultivate a new and vibrant startup culture.
