Bi-Weekly Ugrad Update

October 14, 2010 |

pioneerblog-ugradupdate2pioneerblog-ugradupdate1Daniels students, how are you all doing?  I hope you are having an amazing quarter so far and that you are enjoying the different events going on at Daniels.

On that note, last week was very successful for the Daniels Entrepreneurship Society (DES). They had a successful day at the Rockies vs. Giants game, where they met with the Head of Baseball Operations, the Assistant Legal Counsel and the Baseball Operations Assistant. They also had a great meeting with the cofounder and VP of operations of COINSTAR.

Also, the Professional Networking Night with the Colorado Rapids was a very successful event, and students were able to network with the Director of Ticket Sales and Service and other executives. This was followed by a tailgate put on by Alpha Kappa Psi. Additionally, the students had great seats for the game, where the Rapids beat the Philadelphia Union.

Check out the pictures! I encourage you to go to these events, as they are fun, great opportunities to network with industry experts who can offer you advice as you try to pursue your dream career. Plus, they could potentially offer you internships or jobs.

On another note, I am proud to announce that undergraduate students at Daniels will be participating in the Inter-Collegiate Business Case (I.C.B.C) competition put on by Queen’s University in Canada. There will be two teams participating, one in ethics and one in marketing. This is a very prestigious undergraduate case competition and we hope that in the future more students will participate.

Finally, are you interested in starting your own business? Then make sure you attend the next DES event. On November 2nd, an entrepreneur will talk about making a business plan and offer help to those students who want to make one or are in the process of making one. For more information contact Mason Hays: des.events@gmail.com

Also, if you are a senior, the BusinessWeek survey is coming up. Fill it out and remind all your friends to do the same. This is really important, as they gather our input to make the rankings.

Don’t forget to follow the Backpacks to Briefcases website for information on upcoming professional development events. And if you have any comments, concerns, or suggestions, email us as dcb.senators@gmail.com.

Good luck with midterms!

In Pioneer Spirit,
Vanessa Torres Gangoo
