ASCEND: The Campaign for the University of Denver

Invest

A Message from the Dean

Transformation Begins Here

Chris RiordanFor over 100 years, the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver has educated leaders of substance prepared to make a difference in the world. Our transformative educational experience impacts not just the students in our classrooms--it impacts stakeholders around the world from village banks in Cambodia to big banks on Wall Street, and beyond.

There is much about Daniels to make us proud. Frequently ranked by U.S. News and World Report, BusinessWeek, the Financial Times and Beyond Grey Pinstripes as one of the top business schools in the world, Daniels has a well-deserved reputation for producing ethical, socially responsible, globally aware graduates who find unique solutions to difficult problems. We have a world-class faculty, an innovative and cutting-edge curriculum, exceptional experiential learning opportunities, and an alumni network of over 30,000 Daniels Pioneers throughout the nation and the world.

As we envision the next 100 years, we see the Daniels College of Business as synonymous with:

  • Rigorous, relevant academics and innovative problem solving built on a foundation of a strong sense
of ethics and corporate social responsibility
  • Thought leaders, change agents and teachers of real-life, cutting-edge business practices
  • Global focus on the triple bottom line, teaching students to consider the social, political, legal, ethical and economic ramifications of every business decision
  • Driving positive change in Denver and around the world

Our clear vision for Daniels reflects our belief that there is a greater purpose to business and that it can--and must--serve as a driving force behind public good and change around the world.

The Daniels Tomorrow strategic plan focuses on seven goals designed to improve our excellence and reputation. From those goals, we identified five major funding priorities within Daniels. These are:

These high goals cannot be achieved without a strong investment from our community. As a private business college, Daniels must depend on substantial financial support from alumni, friends, parents, corporations and other stakeholders. Daniels' current endowment of $71 million compares poorly with its peer institutions of a similar age.

Daniels, like other premier leaders in business education, must turn to philanthropy--not just to ensure success for the short term but, to sustain excellence for the College's future. At this time, your support is called into action like never before.

Join us as we prepare Daniels to ASCEND to new heights.

Warmly,

Christine M. Riordan, PhD
Dean, Professor of Management
