A few weeks ago, I received an invitation to the Accepted Student Cocktail Reception. I had already attended the Accepted Student Dinner, and wondered whether the Reception would be much different. Upon arrival at the Reception, I realized that I was about to be treated to a completely new experience.
I was greeted with a nametag, a wide selection of beverages, and several plates of hors d’oeuvres. There were many people in attendance, so I entered the closest conversation circle and introduced myself to its gregarious members. Over the course of the evening, I spoke with an assistant dean, two professors, several staff members, a few students in the M.S. in Real Estate and Construction Management program, an IMBA student, a PMBA student, an EMBA student, and an MBA student (who happened to be in my cohort). I was also thrilled to see one of the students who had attended the Accepted Student Dinner with me.
After about half an hour of mixing and mingling, Mr. David Cox, the Assistant Dean of Full-Time MBA Programs at Daniels, read us the statistics for the incoming class. As we listened, we learned that our class was both diverse (40% female) and intelligent (our average GMAT was 620). We were also treated to an inspiring speech by a Daniels alumna who explained how far her Daniels MBA had taken her.
The rousing presentation, accompanied with the opportunity to meet dozens of other incoming students, illustrated the warm hospitality of the Daniels community and the value of a Daniels degree. I am thrilled to be a member of the Daniels Class of 2013!
