International Student Checklist
As of July 1, 2008, consideration for admission to Daniels graduate degree programs is based on:
- Completed application and $100 non-refundable application fee
- Proof of bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university or equivalent
- You must submit two (2) official transcripts from each higher educational institution attended, including institutions that conferred degree(s). If your transcript is in a language other than English, you must submit official English translations of the documents in addition to the original documents. Applicants with foreign credentials must also submit official proof of the degree earned (e.g., a copy of diploma or certificate) with an English translation.
- Results from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or proof of a regionally accredited graduate-level degree may be substituted for the GMAT. However, a GMAT score is mandatory for merit-based financial assistance consideration.
- When requesting official GMAT scores, please refer to the Daniels institutional code of MZR-GT-43MBA. When requesting official GRE scores, please refer to institutional code 4842.
- A minimum of two (2) years professional, post-baccalaureate experience is desirable, however applicants with less work experience may be considered based on other admission criteria.
- Professional resume
- Build a resume that focuses on your unique strengths and accomplishments versus simply documenting your work and educational history. When appropriate, include significant responsibilities and related results.
- Responses to essay questions (included in application form)
- Essays are assessed for clarity, organization, supportive evidence, conciseness and grammar.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation
- These should be meaningful recommendations from individuals (non-relatives) who can evaluate your academic and/or work performance, as well as your potential for success in graduate school.
- Admissions Interview
- While all applicants are strongly encouraged to schedule an admission interview, it is required for 1) individuals with less than two years post-baccalaureate work experience and/or 2) those who wish to be considered for merit-based financial assistance, including scholarships and graduate assistantships. Instructions for scheduling an admission interview are sent once the application is received.
- Language Requirements. As of August 1, 2007, applicants whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency through one of the following test scores:
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 570 paper-based, 230 computer-based or 88 Internet-based
- IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5
- Applicants who do not meet this level of English proficiency may be considered for conditional acceptance if all other admission criteria are met. Prior to enrolling in any graduate-level coursework, English Conditional Acceptance requires a placement evaluation by the DU English Language Center (ELC) and successful completion of intensive ELC English courses up to and including the Graduate Preparation Program.
- Verification of Financial Support and Visa Information form. Students who wish to obtain an F-1 visa must provide a letter of financial verification
- The document must be an original bank letter and/or offer of scholarship that confirms adequate funds to cover tuition and expenses for one year. Account statements are not adequate verification. Note: Verification of financial resources is not necessary for an admission decision, but is required for the issuance of I-20 paperwork which will include detailed instructions about applying for an F-1 visa.
Note: If necessary, the Daniels Admission Committee reserves the right to request additional documentation or materials in order to make a final admission decision.
